297 different banks are pictured and given a name in this early out-of-print book.  This is an updated and revised edition of an original 1956 publication by this author.  While the 1956 edition was a listing only, this edition contains illustrations of each bank, a major improvement.  The author retains the 20-point grading system which he developed for evaluation and pricing purposes.  Some of these mechanical banks are shown for the first time as of date of publication.  “The mechanical banks are listed alphabetically and numbered accordingly…. All banks are cast iron unless indicated otherwise…. Following the complete listing of the mechanical banks is a section covering the variations and after this a section on fakes.”  An introduction tells how the book is to be used.  This rare text, which is a collector’s item in itself, will make a great addition to the permanent reference library of the collector or dealer of these fascinating antique banks.
